Our Story
Hi, I’m Heather. Aka “Mother Hen”
I didn’t set out to build a farm.
I set out to find meaning.
Something wild, sacred, and stubborn.
Turns out, I found both.
I call it Hatchit Farms.
Tucked away in my quiet little corner of the South Okanagan.
We’re not perfect here.
But we’re rooted.
In rhythm, in respect, and in resilience.
Why Chickens?
Because they’re fierce. Because they’re funny.
And because they’re likely descendants of dragons.
I raise chickens for eggs. First and foremost.
But I also raise them for vigor, temperament, and a kind of beauty that refuses to be boxed in.
My flocks are heritage, hybrid, and sometimes halfway feral. They carry stories, not just standards.
Some are bred with intention, others with instinct.

Day-Old Chicks
For those starting a backyard flock or seeking a little everyday magic, our day-old chicks are hand-raised with care and bred for health and heart.
Available for local pickup in the South Okanagan.
Mixie Chicks
Our signature Mixie Chicks are barnyard rebels with rainbow shells and bold hearts. They are bred for adaptability and curiosity. Perfect for those who want more color, more character, and more story in their coop
Hatching Eggs
For those who want to witness the wonder of life from the start, we ship fertile hatching eggs across Canada.
Each egg is a small act of hope, a sealed promise of diversity and vigor.
Icelandic Chickens
Hardy and self-reliant, they thrive where other breeds falter. Built for cold winds and rough ground. They are living proof of a lineage forged in survival
